Laptop repair services

We offer a number of laptop repair services both onsite or at our service centre.

Virus and Spyware Removal- you can find more information on virus removal on the virus removal page or types of viruses on the viruses page.

Hardware replacement - This includes all parts that are still available either direct from the manufacturer or third party equivilants. Examples are laptop cd/dvd/dvd r/w drive, hardrive, Hinges, Screen, memory etc etc.

Data recovery - In most cases we can recover customer data from a failing hard drive or deleted data or just copy old user data to a new pc, apple mac or laptop. A completely failed hard drive usually requires specialist recovery in a "clean" room which is very time consuming and hence very expensive.

DC Socket replacement - We can replace a broken or failed dc socket on most laptops as long as we can source an equivilant or oem dc socket.

Upgrades - We can advise on various beneficial upgrades to enhance your user experience such as more memory, larger hard drive etc.

Graphics chip repair - This is usually due to a flaw in the original laptop design which means that the graphics chip is not soldered correctly to the mainboard and either the solder decays or the chip seperates from the mainboard over a period of time. The repair involves a re-ball of the graphics chip or a re-flow of the solder. We use a specialist infra red solder station to complete these repairs. This involves heating the chip to between 250 and 350 degrees centigrade very quickly to re-melt the solder or re-ball using solder balls of between 0.2 and 0.45 mm diameter. The same process we use to repair yellow light of death on Sony PS3 or red ring of death on Microsoft xbox 360's .

Specialist precision equipment is required for graphics chip repair therefore this type of repair is only available in our service center and not onsite.

When we were looking for premises for 1 Stop Tech shop we had a number of considerations. We wanted to be located in a strategic area at the centre of the motorway network that allowed PJR Micro Ltd to service our business and domestic customers easily and cost effectively. We therefore chose Chorley as this location. As we have continued expanding we quickly realised that our Chorley shop was to small for our purposes. We therefore started looking for new larger premises. There was nothing suitable within the immediate area so we expanded our search further afield, and located a building in Whelley, Wigan which was ideally suited for our purposes which we moved to in 2009. As our business is now going more and more data based we need a premises with fast backbone connection and as the fastest speeds we can obtain at Wigan is 3mb we have amalgamated all our business under one roof at our business service center at Coppull Where we have a 15mb and a 11mb backbone connection. Our Business customers range in areas from Liverpool to Wilmslow and Kendal to York and we have domestic customers all over Lancashire and Greater Manchester. Our new computer shop and premises have extensive offroad parking so short distance to carry sickly pc's.
